On thursday the third day of MUNOM at 12:10 the chairs of the security council instigated a conspiracy to start a "crisis" on the following day. The delegates of the council were instructed by their chairs to think of crises not involving war, as the presidency deemed war "kinda boring". After the lunch break the security council continued its plotting in a perversion of the formal debate, in which the delegates discussed how to best incite Armageddon. The general excitement of the security council when planning a world catastrophe is was sickening. This shocking turn of events shows that corruption has spread beyond individual UN member states, to the institution of the UN itself. The crisis was supposedly planned to make the conference more interesting. What kind of world do we live in, in which the leaders of the greatest powers on earth come together to start a global crisis out of sheer boredom?
Shortly after announcing the conspiracy the president of the security council directly addressed the press team, suggesting with menacing undertones that the journalist would do well to keep this information to himself. This is a blatant violation of press freedom and freedom of speech, meaning the UN has a complete disregard for its own past decisions, and can no longer be held accountable to its own actions.
After deliberately planning a global crisis to be initiated on Friday and then attempting to censor the press, it feels safe to say that the security council, if not the UN as a whole has lost any last scrap of integrity it had managed to maintain throughout its time. We can no longer trust international organisations, nor our own heads of state.
It is tragic to see that the world has come to be ruled by such children that start international quarrels in which humans lose their lives, simply for their own amusement. This journalist believes that announcing a state of emergency is no longer sufficient. I believe the apocalypse has started, and that a communist uprising of the proletariat against the filthy bourgeois powers must begin now or forever remain a dream. I will be going into exile shortly after the publication of this article to avoid the violent retaliation of the oppressive UN security council.
